The Director of Resident Care plays a crucial role in the comprehensive development, management, and functioning of the Resident Care department.
This position involves conducting health evaluations for residents, providing guidance and training to staff in all aspects of resident care, and monitoring the overall health status of residents in accordance with regulatory standards. The Director also collaborates with external healthcare providers, including physicians and home health agencies, to ensure seamless care for residents and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promotes a philosophy that upholds the dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and individuality of all residents.
- Manages the daily operations and administration of the Resident Care department.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company standards for resident care.
- Supervises staff in the administration of medications, including regular audits of medication records.
- Maintains proper storage of medications and ensures cleanliness and organization of medication areas.
- Guarantees timely completion of all necessary documentation, including service plans and assessments, and reviews them with relevant parties.
- Oversees the scheduling of staff to meet resident needs while adhering to budgetary constraints.
- Records significant observations regarding residents' health and communicates any concerns to physicians and pharmacists.
- Ensures prompt responses to emergency calls from residents.
- Participates in maintaining accurate resident records and adheres to policy regarding inquiries.
- Attends community meetings and submits required reports in a timely manner.
- Engages in all mandatory staff meetings, training sessions, and educational opportunities.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Demonstrates a commitment to the dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and individuality of residents.
- Possesses a minimum of a diploma in Nursing; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Holds current nursing licensure (RN/LPN/LVN) from the appropriate state agency.
- Has at least three years of nursing experience, preferably in an assisted living or long-term care environment.
- Brings a minimum of one year of supervisory or management experience.
