As a Paraprofessional Assistant for Special Education, you will play a vital role in supporting students with instructional and behavioral needs in a dynamic and inclusive educational setting.
Key Responsibilities- Assist students with IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills, under the supervision of the special education department.
- Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance.
- Communicate effectively with teachers and other staff members to ensure seamless support for students.
- Accompany students during recess, lunch periods, and community experiences, promoting socialization and inclusion.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to strict confidentiality requirements regarding student, parent, and classroom activities.
- Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel, such as PT, OT, and SLP.
- Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.
- Participate in behavior management techniques, as directed by the teacher and/or other school professionals.
- Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
- Provide physical support, including transfers and ambulation, as needed.
- Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participate and complete Amergis' Competency program, as applicable.
- Hold current CPR certification, if applicable.
- Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Possess strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
