About the Role

KIHOMAC is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a research and development role. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and components for aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design and develop mechanical systems and components for aerospace applications, including research and testing to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Materials Selection: Select materials based on customer requirements, taking into account factors such as strength, durability, and cost.
  • Drawings and Documentation: Create detailed drawings and documentation for mechanical systems and components, including 3D models and technical specifications.
  • Reverse Engineering: Reverse engineer existing mechanical systems and components to identify areas for improvement and optimize design.
  • Project Management: Manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Vendor Management: Select and manage vendors to ensure compliance with industry standards and quality requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures and processes, including ISO 9001, AS9100D, and NADCAP.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to optimize design and manufacturing processes.
  • Documentation and Training: Create detailed documentation and training materials for production teams, including build, assembly, inspection, and production instructions.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Identify root causes of discrepancies and deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce waste.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices through ongoing education and training.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
  • Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Skills: Proficiency in NX and/or SolidWorks, experience with additive manufacturing, and knowledge of composite manufacturing design.
  • Security Clearance: Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a security clearance.
