Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic Assistant to join our team at Grace Pacific LLC. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will assist in performing adjustments and repairs to brakes, transmissions, ignition and lighting systems, cooling and heating systems, and other rolling stock.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in inspections, replacing of parts and making adjustments to keep equipment in good working order.
  • Assist in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems in rolling stock in order to identify and perform necessary repairs.
  • Assist in performing body and fender repair and painting.
  • Completes documentation for all work performed in a timely manner.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in the shop to promote efficiency in completing repair and maintenance services.
  • Adheres to hazards and safety precautions of the mechanical trade; wears personal protective equipment as required.
  • Maintains reliable attendance in order to support a small crew.
  • Establishes and maintains excellent customer relations.
  • Projects professionalism when executing assignments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to lift varying weight based on assigned duties/tasks.
  • Promotes awareness of and follows Company and general safety policies.
  • Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.

Requirements:

  • Ability to use small hand tools, climb ladders.
  • Knowledge of basic welding skills preferred.
  • Able to follow instructions, work independently or with a crew.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Be able to pass a background check for security clearances to military facilities.
  • Conducts oneself in a professional and courteous manner towards the customer and public.
  • High school graduate.
  • Experience repairing/servicing heavy equipment, including gas/diesel engines preferred. Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Basic math to perform daily tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of computers helpful; Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Hawaii driver's license, Favorable Driver History Record, and ability to pass pre-employment DOT Physical to meet driving requirements.
  • Organized to ensure completion of tasks in a timely manner. Ability to attain good working knowledge of all products used.
