Job Summary

The Armed Police Officer provides a highly visible uniformed law enforcement presence at Parkridge Health System facilities, with an emphasis on the emergency department, for the purpose of deterring and preventing criminal behavior. The officer ensures the safety and well-being of patients, employees, physicians, and visitors, as well as the Parkridge Health System property.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use equipment related to the profession for protection of employees, patients, visitors, or self.
  • Follow dress code as an Armed Security Officer, consisting of respective departments patrol uniform, complete with patrol duty gear.
  • Remain accessible to other hospital personnel at all times while on duty with the use of a two-way radio provided by Parkridge Health System.
  • Be flexible, work at a fast pace, and manage several projects at a time.
  • Accurately and thoroughly document all perceived security threats and submit in a Shift Activity Report prior to end of shift.
  • Have frequent interdisciplinary contact with other departments and healthcare professionals.
  • Assist unarmed security personnel with the management, control, and observation.
Requirements
  • Current Driver's License
  • POST Certification
  • CPI (within 30 days of hire)
  • Must be a police officer or Sheriff Deputy
