At Sonic Anatomic Pathology, we're seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pathologist Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our surgical pathology services, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the performance of surgical pathology services, ensuring accurate specimen accession and preparation.
- Obtain clinical history and prepare tissues for histologic processing, describing anatomic features and dissecting specimens.
- Obtain biological specimens for analysis and perform special procedures, including tumor triage and coronary artery perfusion.
- Photograph pertinent gross specimens and microscopic slides, and perform administrative maintenance of surgical pathology protocols and reports.
- Participate in corporate Quality Management Committee to ensure a consistent focus on quality improvement.
- Perform troubleshooting of problem cases and assist pathologists in producing accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain department staffing schedules and develop training programs to increase staff qualifications and ability to produce high-quality work.
- Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science.
- Completion of a Pathologists Assistant program accredited by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
- Successful completion of a visual color discrimination test.
- Annual continuing education units per state licensure and/or ASCP guidelines.
