Corrections and Custodial Care Specialist

Welcome to the role of Corrections Officer in Cumberland County Government. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about justice, safety, and rehabilitation, and is committed to providing exceptional care for inmates at the Cumberland County Jail.
As a Corrections Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining the security, safety, and supervision of inmates. You will conduct regular rounds to ensure adherence to regulations and procedures, monitor inmate activities, and enforce disciplinary actions as needed. You will also search inmates and their living quarters, escort inmates to court hearings and medical appointments, and provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining the security and safety of the correctional facility, inmates, and staff
- Conducting regular rounds to ensure adherence to regulations and procedures
- Monitoring inmate activities and enforcing disciplinary actions as needed
- Searching inmates and their living quarters
- Escorting inmates to court hearings, medical appointments, and other destinations
- Providing crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary
- Preparing reports and documenting activities
You will work closely with our team to ensure that all inmates receive fair and compassionate treatment, while maintaining a safe and secure environment for everyone.
