Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough disassembly of vehicles to assist Service Advisors in evaluating damage for precise estimates
- Identify all necessary repairs to minimize additional costs and reduce repair time
- Adhere to estimates for all tasks performed
- Organize parts properly to prevent damage
- Repair vehicle bodies by reshaping or filling dents and welding broken components; ensure all gaps and fits meet industry standards; remove damaged panels and replace them with new parts, reassembling after painting
- Utilize various hand and power tools safely (e.g., welder, soldering tools, cutting torch, hammers, wrenches, sanders, spray guns, etc.)
- Prepare repaired surfaces by filing, grinding, and sanding before transferring vehicles to the Paint Department
- Repair or replace damaged and defective components
- Inspect and test drive repaired vehicles to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Follow all CARSTAR safety protocols and guidelines
- Perform additional related tasks as needed, including washing vehicles and maintaining cleanliness in the workshop
- Engage in physical activities such as reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting objects over 50 lbs
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to comprehend instructions, written estimates, and work orders
- Capable of multitasking and adapting to a dynamic work environment
- Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients
- Maintain a professional appearance
