Job Summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Air Quality Project Manager to manage air permitting and compliance services for the power, industrial, commercial, transportation, and manufacturing industries in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The successful candidate will work within our Environmental Services Global Practice and perform the following duties:

  • Prepare air permit application packages and associated documentation.
  • Conduct environmental site assessments and inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal air quality requirements.
  • Perform emission calculations and estimates for routine emissions, as well as greenhouse gas and maintenance, start-up, and shutdown emissions.
  • Work with clients and team members to manage projects, budgets, and timelines.
  • Assist with multi-media-based questions and document preparation, such as Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, and filings pursuant to the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA).
  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related Science or Engineering degree from an accredited program, plus a minimum of 7 years (10 years preferred) of applicable experience. Previous consulting experience related to air pollution permitting and compliance and/or multimedia environmental compliance audits, environmental management systems, and report writing is preferred. The candidate should have demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local air regulations with emphasis on the Clean Air Act, including New Source Review/Prevention of Significant Deterioration, National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, New Source Performance Standards, Title V Permitting, Title VI Ozone Depleting Substances. Working knowledge of air quality dispersion models such as AERMOD, AERSCREEN, CALPUFF, VISCREEN, PLUVUE, and SLAB is a plus. Sustainability background is also a plus. The candidate should be able to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information, have strong attention to detail, and be able to follow complex requests. Proficiency in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
