Job Summary

Applied Technical Services (Georgia) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Metallurgist to join our team. As a Senior Metallurgist, you will be responsible for conducting analysis on materials using various methodologies, including optical and electron microscopes. You will also conduct tests to determine the cause of failures of different materials and components, and develop test procedures to determine interaction between different materials and different environments.

Key Responsibilities

Perform test and failure analysis with full data gathering, interpretation, and report writing
Train and supervise junior levels in Metallurgy
Consult with customers to determine the type of analysis required, obtain background information, and supply quotes for services to be performed
Consult with engineers in other divisions of ATS, including Forensics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, and Dimensional Inspection
Perform regular calibrations of lab equipment
Update chemical and equipment inventories
Assist with safety and quality audits

Requirements

B.S. in Engineering or Physical Science
5 years' experience with Failure Analysis
7 years' experience in a metallurgical laboratory environment
Analytical Skills
Math and science skills
Problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational skills
Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), maintain Lab ISO and process Safety procedures
