Job Overview

The Tsui Group is seeking a seasoned construction professional to serve as a key member of our team. As a Senior Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the pre-construction, bid and award, construction, and close-out phases of our educational facility construction projects.

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of project delivery, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  • Review and provide feedback on pre-construction documents, ensuring compliance with project specifications and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and reports, providing regular updates to upper management.
  • Collaborate with public agencies, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality control, ensuring adherence to District standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors, architects, and engineers to resolve issues and ensure project progress.
  • Review and negotiate change orders, ensuring fair and reasonable pricing.
  • Administer professional service agreements and coordinate the delivery of fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
  • Ensure project close-out, including certification with the Division of State Architects and financial close-out.

Requirements

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of full-time paid professional experience in construction and/or project management, with a focus on commercial and public facility construction.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with full responsibility for coordinating complex projects with construction values exceeding $10M.

Preferred Experience:

  • Design-build experience
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Experience with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS)
  • Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes
  • Safety and OSHA Safety Regulations (OSHA 30 minimum)

Required Education:

There are 3 ways to meet the education requirement:

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree; candidate must complete the Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential within one year of employment
  • Possession of a valid Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential

Preferred Licenses and Certificates:

  • A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
  • A valid Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI)
