The American Heart Association's Internship Program is designed to provide college students with an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets of non-profit development. As a development intern, you will have the opportunity to assist with pre-event planning and projects related to events within the market, develop collateral for events and mission-related materials, and help with social media planning for local events.
The Association offers many resources to help you maintain work-life harmony through your changing needs and life situations. You will have access to Heart U, our award-winning corporate university, as well as training and support locally and through our National Center.
Responsibilities- Assist with pre-event planning and projects related to events within the market.
- Develop collateral for events and mission-related materials.
- Help with social media planning for local events.
- Work alongside volunteers to support committees related to core campaigns.
- Help with volunteer recruitment and management.
- Donor stewardship.
- Assist with community outreach and events.
- Help with Spring Auction including organizing and displaying auction items, creating auction marketing collateral, photographing auction items and packages.
Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in fundraising, event planning/management, and/or business-non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply. You should be comfortable making cold calls to donors and potential supporters, and have demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
You should also have the ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment, and be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities. Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Canva is also required.
