Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Shelter Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a DV/SA Shelter Support Specialist. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Responsibilities- We are seeking a candidate with excellent problem-solving skills, who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and provide high-quality support to our clients.
- This position requires a strong ability to understand and incorporate the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence into work, as well as the ability to work with other agencies, systems, board and volunteers.
- The successful candidate will be able to maintain accurate records, demonstrate a commitment to confidentiality, and adhere to established policies and procedures.
- A valid CT driver's license and daily access to a car are required for this position.
- The Shelter Support Specialist will be responsible for providing emotional support to victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their significant others, and acting as an advocate with legal, medical, and other social service professionals.
- This position does not have regularly scheduled hours but is scheduled as needed and typically is needed for overnights and weekends.
- Certification as a DV/SA counselor per statute is required for this position.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field, such as counseling or social services, is preferred.
- The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
- A strong understanding of domestic violence and sexual assault issues, as well as relevant laws and policies, is essential for success in this role.
- The Shelter Support Specialist will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, demonstrating a commitment to confidentiality, and adhering to established policies and procedures.
- This is a full-time position with a salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 depending on experience.
