Job Responsibilities
This role is integral to the Application Development and Support team. The main goal of this team within the IT department is to provide high-quality Application Development and Support as well as Web services through proficient systems architecture and planning, project initiation, business analysis, requirements gathering, systems design, development, implementation, ongoing maintenance, enhancement, effective problem-solving, production service support, and systems administration tasks to ensure that software applications effectively support the organization's daily operations.
Key responsibilities include designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining complex computer applications in accordance with the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) guidelines and established project management and quality standards to meet user needs. This position also offers senior-level application development expertise and programming skills, serving as a substitute for the Software Architect when necessary. Additionally, it provides project leadership, estimates, technical training, and guidance to junior programming staff when acting as project leader. Involvement in software design documentation and diagrams is also expected. Familiarity with agile development methodologies is advantageous.
Essential Qualifications
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Proficiency in the Application Lifecycle Management methodology and principles of architecture/design, analysis, requirements gathering, development, and support of computer applications is essential. Advanced knowledge and skills in complex programming techniques, tools, and principles are necessary, including but not limited to normalized database design, SQL/T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, object-oriented programming, image creation/editing, XML/XHTML, CSS, Microsoft .NET Framework/Core, C#, LINQ, ASMX/WCF Web Services, TFS/VSTS, software design patterns, N-Tier/Microservice architectures, Accessibility Standards (Section 508), JavaScript, jQuery, and AJAX. Strong documentation skills, excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities, and the capacity to lead when designated as project leader are desirable traits. A basic understanding of hardware and telecommunications technologies is considered beneficial. The ability to work independently to ensure applications function as intended for the end-user community is crucial.
Additional Considerations
Familiarity with MVC frameworks and Umbraco CMS is preferred. Additional advanced knowledge, experience, licenses, or certifications that would be advantageous for the agency to have from day one are welcomed.
