Clinical Nurse Specialist

About the Role:
This position requires a highly motivated and organized individual who can work effectively in fast-paced environments. You will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities:
- Perform initial vital signs and admission history, including introduction to patients and families, and assessment of chief complaints.
- Obtain and document complete nursing admission assessments, including physiological and psychological factors, to develop an interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Perform and document accurate system assessments at the beginning of each shift, reporting abnormal findings immediately to physicians.
- Respond to diagnostic data and initiate appropriate action or intervention.
- Assess patient education needs upon admission and daily thereafter.
- Assess psychosocial needs specific to patients' ages, growth, and development.
- Establish priorities for patient care based on patient needs, evidenced by the completion of assigned duties within shifts.
- Verbalize understanding of patient diagnoses and interdisciplinary plans of care.
- Safely and correctly initiate and document nursing interventions in emergencies.
- Administer, observe, and document intravenous therapy according to hospital policy.
- Administer medications within 30 minutes of scheduled times, observe, and document effectiveness, recognizing and reporting adverse reactions immediately.
- Provide individualized instructions each shift to patients/significant others regarding plans of care.
- Demonstrate safe and correct use of unit-specific equipment.
- Ensure that each patient's general hygiene needs are met daily.
- Perform pre-operative and post-operative care and instructions for each assigned surgical patient during shifts.
- Adhere to standard precautions, including hand hygiene guidelines, at all times.
- Document specific patient valuables and arrange appropriate storage.
- Perform dressing changes using aseptic technique.
- Collect and label specimens per policy when ordered by physicians.
- Perform bedside glucose monitoring according to policy.
- Administer internal feeding via NG tubes, gastrostomy tubes, and/or jejunostomy tubes.
- Perform ostomy care, including irrigation, appliance usage, and reinforcement of teaching.
- Insert intermittent or indwelling urinary catheters using aseptic technique.
- Administer oxygen therapy according to physician orders.
- Document/report patient responses or outcomes.
- Evaluate and document patients' progress towards established goals.
- All other tasks as related to the positions' duties.
Qualifications:
- Current FL RN license
- BLS and ACLS required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience
- Graduated from an accredited College of Nursing
