Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Police Lieutenant to join our team at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for supervising and administering the District's police force, ensuring the safety and security of our employees, facilities, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage a team of police officers and sergeants, providing guidance and support to ensure effective performance and high morale.
  • Analyze and investigate criminal activity, working closely with other departments to identify and address security threats.
  • Develop and implement security protocols and procedures to prevent and respond to security incidents.
  • Conduct regular inspections of District facilities to ensure compliance with security regulations and procedures.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community agencies and citizens, promoting a culture of goodwill and cooperation.
  • Administer contracts for security equipment and services, working with vendors to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and two years of college or equivalent experience in law enforcement or military police service.
  • Five years of experience in law enforcement, with a valid driver's license.
  • Additional experience as a sworn law enforcement officer or military police may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years.
  • Civil service status as a Police Sergeant.

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to security threats and emergencies. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
