Role Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a pivotal role in guiding the financial operations of the organization. This position entails comprehensive oversight of transaction recording accuracy, asset protection, financial closing processes, monthly reporting, and financial analysis. The CFO will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for managing the daily functions of the finance team while contributing to operational strategy and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities:

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
  • Evaluates departmental expenditures and suggests cost-saving measures as necessary.
  • Collaborates with the Credit Manager to supervise credit policies, regularly assessing open credit balances and accounts.
  • Ensures payroll and employee benefit plans are managed effectively, meeting compliance and reporting standards.
  • Oversees Accounts Payable processes to guarantee timely payments to authorized vendors and proper invoice approvals.
  • Manages the calculation and distribution of sales commissions.
  • Maintains accurate fixed asset records and supervises depreciation calculations in accordance with GAAP and tax regulations.
  • Monitors the D&B relationship, providing updates and disputing negative reports when necessary.
ACCOUNTING FUNCTIONS
  • Reviews all general ledger entries and reconciliations, preparing necessary adjustments and managing control processes for financial reporting.
  • Assists in the development of the company budget and provides timely reporting and analysis of variances.
  • Supports annual financial audits, offering explanations and interpretations as required.
  • Oversees inventory costing and physical count procedures, directing policies for obsolete stock write-offs.
  • Researches technical accounting issues to ensure compliance.
FINANCIAL REPORTING
  • Prepares monthly and annual financial statements, including narratives of financial results for the CEO and senior management.
  • Manages and reviews various sales and bonus reports for different regions and sales representatives.
  • Prepares ad hoc reports on sales, costs, and products as requested by department heads.
TAX COMPLIANCE
  • Coordinates with external accountants for tax filings, ensuring timely estimated and final payments for corporate and shareholder tax returns.
  • Oversees the distribution of payroll W-2 forms and 1099 forms to independent contractors.
  • Manages property tax filings and maintains associated records.
  • Ensures compliance with sales & use tax and franchise tax reporting and payments.
  • Handles registration and reporting of related taxes for various jurisdictions as required.
CASH MANAGEMENT
  • Projects the company's cash position to maintain optimal liquidity and acts as the primary liaison with banking partners.
  • Prepares financial statements and schedules for banks, ensuring compliance with loan covenants.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists with product pricing updates as needed.
  • Supports the CEO with special projects and significant initiatives involving Operations and Manufacturing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • In-depth understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with manufacturing ERP systems is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance from a recognized institution.
  • Over 10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role (experience with a Big Four accounting firm is advantageous).
  • Familiarity with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end closing process.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Operations.
  • At least 3 years of public accounting experience.
  • CPA or equivalent certification is required.
