Position Summary
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist I is responsible for conducting laboratory analyses on clinical samples following established protocols. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, specimen processing, executing moderate to highly complex testing, and ensuring quality assurance and control measures are adhered to. This role involves maintaining equipment, documenting all activities accurately, and working under the guidance of the Laboratory Medical Director. As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist I, you will apply sound laboratory practices to identify and resolve issues effectively.
Training Schedule: Standard hours for initial training.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Conduct laboratory tests and analyses in accordance with the laboratory's standard operating procedures.
- Implement, review, and document quality control processes.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, troubleshooting as necessary.
- Prepare necessary reagents for testing procedures.
- Identify and resolve basic issues affecting test outcomes.
- Review and interpret patient results as required.
- Assist in training new laboratory staff on established and new protocols.
- Ensure adequate inventory of laboratory supplies for daily operations.
- Engage in testing and validation of new laboratory methodologies and equipment.
- Uphold high standards of quality, reporting any concerns that may impact test results or safety.
- Manage daily testing and project requirements efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and preparation for inspections.
- Incorporate feedback professionally.
- Engage in ongoing education and attend staff meetings, taking responsibility for personal development.
- Meet productivity and turnaround time expectations.
- Collaborate as part of a team.
- Demonstrate flexibility in handling various tasks and schedules.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail.

- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in various positions throughout the day.
- Utilize mobile devices and computers for approximately 75% of the workday.
- Perform technical tasks for the majority of the workday, with minimal administrative duties.
- Comply with safety regulations and personal protective equipment requirements.
- May encounter hazardous materials and biological specimens during routine operations.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all testing and interactions.
- Travel between laboratory locations may be necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or equivalent training and experience.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laboratory regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field from an accredited institution.
- Experience in molecular diagnostics.
Compensation: Competitive salary range based on experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for bonuses and stock options.
