Job Overview

Salary: Starting at $25 per hour

The role of the Manufacturing Maintenance Technician is crucial within the Maintenance department, focusing on the seamless operation of daily activities. This position collaborates with the maintenance team to ensure that machinery is maintained with precision and dependability. Responsibilities include supporting roll forming machines, shears, hydraulic and pneumatic punching equipment, mechanical presses, turrets, and folders, as well as electronic systems, including input/output networks, PLC support, and variable speed drives, which range from basic on–off controls to intricate control wiring for production lines, along with hydraulic and pneumatic controls.

Shift Requirements: The position requires working a split shift or 2nd shift (3 PM - 12 AM).

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as an essential member of the Maintenance team, collaborating with employees across various levels to reduce machine downtime and enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Follow communication protocols established for all team members.
  • Work collaboratively, seeking additional assistance promptly when faced with challenges beyond your expertise.
  • Effectively manage time to ensure all tasks are completed within designated timeframes.
  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards.
Main Duties and Performance Expectations
  • Coordinate with all levels of staff under the guidance of the Operations Manager.
  • Diagnose and repair roll formers and other machinery, accurately documenting issues in the maintenance management system.
  • Utilize drill presses, grinders, and tool and die equipment proficiently.
  • Replace and repair components such as bearings, shafts, dies, punches, sleeves, and rolls.
  • Interpret blueprints and schematics effectively.
  • Conduct and document preventative maintenance as necessary.
  • Modify machinery, rolls, dies, and equipment through machining and fitting.
  • Diagnose software and hardware issues related to PLC control systems.
  • Address issues with AMS/Eclipse Rollforming software systems.
  • Communicate machine issues and downtime to other shifts and management.
  • Enhance machine uptime and assist operators in improving efficiency.
Proactive Maintenance Approach
  • Conduct thorough preventative maintenance inspections and planned corrective maintenance.
  • Complete necessary inspections and repairs as part of PM tasks.
  • Review accuracy measurements for part lengths.
  • Provide training to support operators.
  • Perform routine checks on control wiring.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and report on critical failures.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience in PLC troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with control wiring.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills related to machinery.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Understanding of pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with machine breakdowns.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience in equipment assembly, process automation, and shop floor control systems.
  • Welding, fabrication, and skills in pneumatic and hydraulic equipment repair.
  • Experience with tool and die work.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform manual labor as required.
