Paraeducator - Instructional ESOL Specialist

The St. Mary's County Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paraeducator - Instructional ESOL to support the academic achievement of multilingual learners. This is a ten-month position that requires the ability to provide instructional ESOL support to students and support for teachers.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with ESOL teachers to develop and implement instructional strategies to support multilingual learners.
- Provide one-on-one support to students in basic subject content areas, including English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
- Assist teachers in preparing materials and scaffolding to reinforce regular classroom lessons.
- Translate home/school communication to parents as needed.
- Take on the role of translator for parents at open house, orientation, and school meetings.
- Administer WIDA Screener upon registration.
- Assist with Title III compliance paperwork.
- Attend workshops and in-service training sessions.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate degree or a minimum 48-semester college credits or successful completion of the Paraprofessional Test.
- Related ESOL college courses or training.
- Experience working with multilingual children.
This is a full-time ten-month position. The salary for this position will be based on the EASMC-ESP salary schedule for ten-month seven-hour employees – Range 8.
