Job Title: LPN - General Surgery

Stamford Health, a leading healthcare system in Connecticut, is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our General Surgery team in Stamford.

About the Role:

The LPN will play a vital role in coordinating patient care, providing mentorship to non-nursing personnel, and serving as a resource to staff and management. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate patient care, ensuring adherence to established standards of practice and state and federal guidelines.
  • Provide mentorship to non-nursing personnel, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Serve as a resource to staff and management, identifying and resolving problems in a timely and effective manner.
  • Assist patients with daily activities, such as walking, transferring, and dressing.
  • Provide minor treatment as directed by physicians, assisting with procedures and documenting patient information.
  • Document all patient-related activities, ensuring accurate and timely recording of vital signs, test results, and other relevant information.
  • Schedule patient testing and pre-certify insurance requirements, ensuring seamless care coordination.
  • Respond to patient and physician office messages, maintaining effective communication and resolving issues promptly.
  • Participate in continuing education programs, staying up-to-date with the latest medical knowledge and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Connecticut.
  • Minimum of 6 contact hours of continuing education annually.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position.
