The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates is seeking a seasoned professional to lead its Governmental Affairs efforts in Georgia. As Manager of Governmental Affairs, you will be responsible for advancing the interests of credit unions at the state level, ensuring they remain competitive and viable in the financial services sector.

About the Role

This strategic position involves conducting research and analysis, managing lobbying activities in the Georgia Legislature, and assisting with lobbying for the Georgia Congressional delegation as needed. You will prepare reports, promote, and conduct speaking engagements, and support the Chief Advocacy Officer as the liaison to the Georgia Advocacy Committee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote the passage of the LSCU Advocacy Agenda in the General Assembly and monitor legislative and regulatory developments that affect credit unions and the financial services sector.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key legislators, regulatory bodies, government officials, and advocacy groups in Georgia.
  • Represent credit unions' interests at legislative hearings, meetings, and events, and organize grassroots lobbying efforts by coordinating member participation in advocacy campaigns.
  • Provide analysis and summaries of legislative activities to internal and external stakeholders, and assist in the coordination of PAC activities, including fundraising and donor outreach.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in political science, public relations, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in the state legislative process, either as a staff member for an elected official or in governmental affairs with a trade association or lobbying firm.
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret legislation to assess its potential impact on credit unions.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and managing projects both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe products.
What We Offer

The standard work schedule for the Manager of Governmental Affairs is Monday through Friday, with occasional commitments during evenings and weekends. This position involves frequent travel, primarily within Georgia, and may require airline travel as well. A valid driver's license is required. The salary for this position is $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
