Position Overview

Role Summary:

In alignment with our mission to enhance the quality of life for the Residents, the Recreational Activities Coordinator plays a vital role in executing the facility's events and programs under the guidance of the Activities Director. This position is dedicated to engaging Residents in meaningful daily routines through personalized activities that they have enjoyed in the past, fostering a sense of achievement, significance, and purpose in their current lives.

This is a full-time role.

Key Responsibilities:

Accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill the essential duties.

  • Execute the Activity Program according to the established monthly schedule and directives from the Activities Director, ensuring that activities cater to the diverse needs of Residents, including both group and individual settings.
  • Monitor and document Residents' attendance, engagement, and any behavioral changes.
  • Assist in transporting Residents to various programs and support community outings as planned.
  • Prepare for activities by assembling necessary materials and equipment prior to commencement.
  • Communicate with the Activities Director regarding any required assistance from nursing, maintenance, or other departments for program preparation.
  • Promote Resident involvement in group activities through personal invitations, announcements, and encouragement during events.
  • Familiarize oneself with individual care plans and contribute to the care planning process by sharing insights and observations regarding Residents' preferences and needs, including dietary restrictions.
  • Collaborate with community volunteers to coordinate activity programs, providing direction and assigning tasks as needed.
  • Welcome and orient new Residents upon their arrival at the facility.
  • Immediately inform nursing staff of any incidents or accidents involving Residents during group activities or individual visits.
  • Report any noticeable changes in a Resident's behavior or condition to the Charge Nurse or Unit Manager, and communicate all incidents to the Recreation Director.

Supervisory Duties:

This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Prior experience working with senior populations or facilitating group activities is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various arts and crafts activities is advantageous.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to organize and execute tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with colleagues within the department and facility.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Basic computer proficiency is necessary.
