Job Overview

The Recreation Center Operations Assistant plays a key role in the day-to-day management of the Recreation Center at Seventh Square. This position involves planning, coordinating, and monitoring the implementation of recreational and sports activities, ensuring a safe environment for staff and patrons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and development of seasonal programs, including Youth Basketball, Adult League Basketball, and Stow Pitch Softball
  • Support the Recreation Manager with staff training and ensure employees follow procedures and expectations set by the City of West Monroe
  • Assist with supervision of staff and prioritize work assignments
  • Provide excellent customer service to patrons
  • Assist with scheduling facility reservations and monitor facility cleanliness and safety
  • Perform basic groundskeeping duties, including operating a Zero Turn mower and maintaining Brady Field
  • Seasonal preparation and marking of baseball fields
  • Basic small equipment repair and maintenance
  • Assist in equipment inspection and maintenance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience
  • Experience with cash registers and credit card machines
  • Knowledge of rules of play for basketball, softball, pickleball, and soccer
  • Basic first aid, CPR, and AED certification
  • Scorekeeping and referee skills a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Light to mid-level lifting
  • Ability to tolerate heat during summer months
  • Climbing ladders to repair goals and change nets
  • Ability to maintain sidewalk edges with a weed eater
