Job Responsibilities
  • Preparing and administering medications to patients in post-acute care settings
  • Overseeing residents' self-administration of medications, providing reminders as necessary
  • Ensuring accuracy by verifying the right person, drug, dose, route, and time against the Medication Administration Record (MAR)
  • Documenting interventions, vital signs, and other relevant data related to medication administration
  • Maintaining confidentiality of patient information
  • Reporting any issues or concerns to the supervising nurse
  • Assisting residents with daily living activities (ADLs)
Qualifications and Skills
  • Current certification as a Certified Medication Assistant
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current certification as a state nursing assistant (CNA/LNA/STNA)
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a nursing assistant role or related position
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Strong understanding of medical and pharmacological terminology
