Payroll Specialist Job Description

At Syndeo, we're seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our payroll team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate calculation and implementation of payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process multi-state payrolls with precision and attention to detail
  • Prepare, process, and audit payroll and billing adjustments to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Set up, audit, and resolve direct deposit payments, rejections, and reversals to minimize errors
  • Process voids, reissues, and manual checks to meet client needs
  • Receive, research, and determine/communicate actions on general inquiries from clients and worksite employees
  • Process and respond to wage garnishments and payroll deductions in a timely manner
  • Enter payroll changes, such as pay changes, status changes, and terminations, to ensure up-to-date records
  • Process both manual and electronic time files to ensure accurate payroll processing
  • Communicate with clients and employees regarding payroll issues and respond to inquiries via phone and email
  • Participate in and support various projects as requested to drive business growth
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
  • Strong accounting background or payroll certifications (preferred)
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft applications
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with excellent data entry accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and with others
  • Basic problem-solving skills and one year of experience in payroll (preferred)
