Behavior Intervention Specialist

This is a long-term substitute position that will begin in August 2024. The successful candidate will provide consultation to building and educational teams regarding positive behavioral supports to establish a safe learning environment for students.
Key Responsibilities- Student Observation and Data Collection: Observe students to gather relevant information and data to consult with the educational team concerning student programming.
- Consultation and Coaching: Consult with building staff concerning learning strategies and supports for students presenting behavioral challenges. Model intervention and coach staff on implementation of specific strategies.
- Professional Learning and Development: Participate in professional learning activities, including instruction in Crisis Prevention Intervention. Stay up-to-date with evidence-based methodologies used with students with behavioral challenges.
- Collaboration and Communication: Communicate with staff regarding implementation of instructional strategies for students presenting behavioral challenges. Liaise with state and national initiatives in the area of positive behavior supports.
- Event Planning and Participation: Participate in events outside of the regularly scheduled workday, such as presenting programs and lessons or attending conferences.
The ideal candidate will possess an Illinois Professional Educator License with an appropriate Special Education endorsement. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential is preferred.
Working ConditionsThis position requires working collaboratively with special education teams to provide consultation and support to students and staff.
