The ideal candidate for this Education Support Specialist role will be responsible for supporting the classroom teacher in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to develop and implement instructional strategies that cater to diverse student needs.
  • Prepare and organize educational materials, ensuring a well-equipped learning space.
  • Provide physical and personal support to students, promoting their overall well-being.
  • Supervise students during designated periods, such as breakfast, lunch, and assemblies, maintaining a safe and respectful atmosphere.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including attendance recording and inventory management.
  • Participate in lesson planning and contribute to instructional activities, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Maintain open communication with the classroom teacher, ensuring effective collaboration and teamwork.
  • Promote student confidentiality and adhere to district policies.
  • Support students in both structured and unstructured activities, encouraging socialization and skill development.
  • Cultivate a positive learning environment that values diversity and inclusivity.
  • Assist substitute teachers and implement district policies, ensuring continuity and consistency.
  • Administer assessments and accommodations, providing equal opportunities for all students.
  • Develop expertise in specialty areas and participate in non-violent crisis intervention training.

Required qualifications include an Associate of Arts degree or 48 undergraduate college credits. Preferred qualifications include non-violent crisis intervention training and experience supporting students with special needs. The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 annually, based on location and experience. This is a full-time, 183-day position with Worcester Public Schools.
