Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider to join our team in the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Unit. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with supervising physicians to provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the expansion of individualized healthcare services for pediatric and congenital heart conditions.

Responsibilities:
  • Counsel and educate cardiac critical care patients and their families/caregivers concerning health conditions, treatment options, and community resources.
  • Document delivery of cardiac critical healthcare and nursing processes in accordance with care standards and network nursing policy.
  • Participate in orientation and education of staff and students.
  • Obtain cardiac critical care patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview, and examination.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies for cardiac critical care patients. Perform health assessments, screening, and patient care.
  • Provide direct treatment and management of cardiac critical care conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources. Engage in discharge planning.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Physician's Assistant or Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority specializing in Cardiac Critical Care.
  • Credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing in Acute Care nursing.
  • Experience in caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease in a Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Critical Care Unit.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations.
  • Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance, using manual dexterity, lifting, and moving. Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment will be furnished. The position may involve working around standard office conditions and biohazards.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $120,000 + depending on qualifications. The University of Texas at Austin offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
