POSITION OVERVIEW

This skilled role involves performing routine maintenance and necessary repairs on a variety of vehicles including cars, trucks, vans, and specialized equipment. You will be responsible for disassembling and overhauling engines, transmissions, and other mechanical systems while working independently. This position requires you to have your own tools and may involve snow plowing duties during winter months.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on vehicles and maintain accurate service records.
  • Inspect vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunction, and discuss findings with the Lead Mechanic or Manager.
  • Plan and execute work procedures efficiently.
  • Utilize hydraulic jacks or hoists to access vehicle components.
  • Remove and inspect units such as engines and transmissions for wear and defects.
  • Overhaul or replace essential components like carburetors and starters.
  • Rewire electrical systems and perform tests to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
  • Adjust and repair brake and suspension systems as necessary.
  • Perform minor body repairs and replace vehicle accessories.
  • Drive vehicles equipped with snow plows as required.
  • Be available for after-hours emergency repairs and occasional weekend work.
  • Follow all safety protocols as outlined by management.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY ROLE

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are necessary:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

A certificate from a technical college or university program, or five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and write at a business level, and effectively communicate information to management and colleagues.

MATH SKILLS

Proficiency in basic arithmetic and understanding of measurement units.

REASONING ABILITY

Capability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Familiarity with diagnostic scanning tools for electrical systems.

CERTIFICATIONS

A valid driver's license is required.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

Strong communication skills and the ability to diagnose vehicle issues effectively. Knowledge of current manufacturing standards and technologies is essential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift heavy objects and work in various conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees may be exposed to loud noises, moving parts, and outdoor weather conditions.
