Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Professional to join our team at the Good Samaritan Society. As a key member of our dining services team, you will be responsible for coordinating production, preparing, and serving nutritious meals to our residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate production, preparation, and serving of meals to residents, following established orders, standards, and regulations.
  • Assist in the development of pleasing and unique recipes and menu creation to meet the dietary needs of our residents.
  • Maintain continuous quality improvement of meals prepared and served daily, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Manage kitchen and dining areas, including delegation of cleaning duties and education/training of staff on cleaning policies.
  • Observe, measure, and document information as assigned, and report resident conditions to appropriate staff.
  • Provide residents with opportunities for independence and choice consistent with their service plans.
  • Keep residents' dining areas pleasant and orderly, and ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Operate dishwashing and kitchen equipment safely, and notify supervisors or maintenance staff of any problems.
  • Participate in special events, such as open houses, group meetings, and special meals, as needed.
  • Follow location infection control procedures and OSHA and CDC guidelines for bloodborne pathogens while serving food, assisting residents, and cleaning.
  • Wash hands per facility guidelines, perform cleaning duties in kitchen and dining areas, and may include dishwashing.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets or related experience in a similar type of setting is preferred.
  • Ability to measure and comprehend certain quantities.
  • Certification as a food protection manager by ServSafe or other equivalent ANSI-approved program is preferred before assuming duties of person in charge.
  • Basic ability to communicate and comprehend.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of foodborne disease prevention and apply food safety principles.
