Job Description

Huntington Ingalls Industries is seeking a skilled Acoustics Sonar Engineering Technician 3 to join our team in Newport News, Virginia. As a key member of our E25 Virginia Class Submarine Acoustics Test Engineering Group, you will be responsible for performing testing, maintenance, and operation of the Core SONAR System, including arrays, hydrophones, and transducer sensors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform testing, maintenance, and operation of the Core SONAR System
  • Ensure all systems function properly as designed and in accordance with required test procedures
  • Generate Preliminary Problem Reports when discrepancies are found in equipment operation/functions of the SONAR system software
  • Assist in problem resolution phases

Requirements:

  • AA or other 2-year technical degree in a related discipline and 3 years of related experience, or HS + 5 years related (DoD/USN) experience
  • Prior US Navy Submarine Experience
  • Active SECRET Security Clearance
