Position Overview:
The Regional Financial Manager for Northern California is responsible for ensuring the precise and timely reporting of financial data for clients. This role involves reviewing and approving financial reports and creating documentation that facilitates efficient information flow within the region. The Regional Financial Manager collaborates closely with the Senior Vice President and Regional Vice President, as well as the Operational Accounting Manager and the Home Office Accounting Team, including Client Reporting Services Accountants and Senior Staff Accountants, who are primarily accountable for client financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development of the region's long-term financial strategy.
- Support and maintain robust internal controls within the region.
- Collaborate with operational teams to address financial and operational challenges.
- Assist senior leadership with financial reporting needs, including the preparation of various financial analyses.
- Contribute to the preparation of Pro Formas and analysis for new business initiatives and retention strategies.
- Support the analysis of key performance indicators in the marketplace.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analyses as requested by senior management.
- Ensure compliance with client contracts through the maintenance and approval of procedures and summaries.
- Interpret contract terms and ensure accurate reflection of income and expenses in financial statements.
- Provide financial support for significant new projects or initiatives within the region.
- Coordinate administrative functions during the establishment of new locations.
- Act as the primary liaison for Home Office Accounting, Finance, Treasury, and Compliance teams.
- Participate in due diligence and transition coordination for future acquisitions.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Supporting Responsibilities:
- Review and support all accounting activities within the region.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements by assigned accountants.
- Investigate key variances prior to month-end close and prepare detailed notes for P&L reviews.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of regional and location performance.
- Coordinate budgeting and comparative reporting processes with operational staff.
- Own the budgeting process and reforecasts on a location-by-location basis throughout the year.
- Analyze performance and significant variances against budget.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 6+ years of experience in Financial Analysis or Financial Operations, with responsibilities in financial reporting.
- 4+ years in a management role.
- Experience in property management or service industry accounting is advantageous.
Skills:
- Familiarity with US GAAP and IFRS reporting standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and comprehensive solution recommendations.
- Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to foster an environment of collaboration and creative problem-solving.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated sense of urgency and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 10 pounds.
