Air Liquide Large Industries is dedicated to delivering essential industrial gas and energy solutions that support our clients' production processes. We manage an extensive network of industrial gas pipelines across the U.S., primarily supplying oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and syngas to key sectors including chemicals, petrochemicals, refining, and steel manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Plant Engineer will spearhead engineering and operational initiatives to ensure the delivery of safe, dependable, high-quality, and cost-efficient products to our clientele. This position is tailored for a technically proficient operational engineer tasked with supporting our Bayou Cogen and Utilities Plants. The technologies involved include Cogen, Steam Production (Boilers), Water Treatment (Clarifiers & Demineralization Units), Steam Turbines, and motor-driven systems.
  • Facilitates the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the Cogen and Utilities Plants, adhering to IMS requirements, Responsible Care protocols, enhancement programs, and the development of personnel skills and competencies.
  • Assists the Plant Manager in ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and Air Liquide policies.
  • Champions a culture of safety aiming for "Zero Accidents" by taking a proactive leadership role in safety initiatives and meeting or exceeding company safety standards.
  • Strictly follows the Management of Change procedures, conducting engineering design and analysis for modifications, and engaging external resources as necessary.
  • Supports both internal and external audits.
  • Actively participates in all plant startups and is capable of initiating production processes.
  • Engages in the investigation of incidents and drives the completion of corrective actions.
  • Addresses on-site action items arising from RCFA, audits, etc.
  • Develops, implements, and refines standard operating procedures for operations and maintenance.
  • Collaborates effectively with maintenance teams to enhance predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Strives for improvements to achieve availability, reliability, and preventive maintenance goals for the facility.
  • Identifies and implements operational efficiency enhancements.
  • Monitors and analyzes key performance indicators, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintains essential operating design documents, updating them as required when MOCs are approved, and works with document control to ensure accuracy.
  • Recognizes and acts on opportunities to reduce operational costs.
  • Possesses knowledge of Maximo (CMMS) for managing work orders, procurement, and inventory control.
  • Promotes a positive workplace culture and drives optimal performance, working closely with operations and maintenance to resolve plant-related issues and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Regularly reviews production technology reading sheets, logbooks, calibration records, and shift turnover reports to ensure compliance and formulate corrective action plans for identified issues.
  • Collaborates with regional and corporate support teams.
  • Exhibits teamwork skills to effectively engage within the Air Liquide organization.
  • Assists the operations manager in fostering positive customer relationships and proactively addressing customer concerns.
  • Collects data and generates monthly production and incident reports.
  • Willingness to be on call during off-hours, including nights and weekends, as business needs arise.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required (Mechanical or Chemical discipline preferred).
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in project engineering or operations within the industrial gas or petrochemical sectors.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse teams to achieve results.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing plant operations, including Process Safety Management, OSHA regulations, EPA/TCEQ regulations, and local requirements.
  • Technical understanding of cryogenic distillation processes utilized in Air Separation is preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office and capable of learning Air Liquide software systems.
  • Highly organized with effective time management skills.
  • Ability to interpret and red-line key operational documents.
  • Experience with DCS and PLC systems.
  • Demonstrates mechanical, process, and electrical aptitude; capable of troubleshooting production challenges.
  • Candidates must possess valid employment authorization in the U.S. and do not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
