About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Merchandise Team Leader to join our team at Target. As a General Merchandise Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of hourly team members and driving sales growth in the General Merchandise department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of hourly team members to achieve sales goals and provide exceptional guest service.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive sales growth and improve inventory management in the General Merchandise department.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team Leader to develop and execute business plans and strategies to achieve sales goals and improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to team members to improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure that all team members are trained on company policies and procedures and that they are adhering to them.
  • Monitor and analyze sales data and inventory levels to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Work closely with the Closing team to ensure that the store is guest-ready and that all tasks are completed.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude.
  • Effective communication skills.
