Role Summary
The Physical Therapist (PT) PRN Outpatient role entails delivering high-quality Physical Therapy services to both inpatient and outpatient populations. This includes conducting evaluations, implementing evidence-based interventions, recommending equipment, and applying modalities as directed by a physician or qualified non-physician practitioner.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough PT evaluations for both inpatients and outpatients, determining suitable treatment plans and equipment needs while considering age-specific requirements for the rehabilitation population.
- Formulate a patient-focused treatment strategy based on evaluations, patient objectives, and age-related considerations to enhance treatment efficacy and functional outcomes. Ensure that the treatment plan meets medical necessity standards and incorporates evidence-based practices and measurable outcomes. Regularly update and communicate the treatment plan to relevant team members, ensuring it is reviewed and approved by the referring physician when necessary.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with departmental and regulatory requirements to support a comprehensive medical record that validates skilled services and medical necessity. Ensure appropriate billing for services rendered and document outcome measures effectively.
- Provide clinical oversight, including care coordination and task delegation, to assistants, technicians, and students, adhering to state and federal regulations as well as hospital protocols. Ensure that interventions performed by assistants and students align with the patient’s care plan.
Qualifications
- A degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution is required.
- Possession of a valid Physical Therapist license in the state of Indiana is mandatory.
- Current CPR certification in compliance with AHA standards is required or must be obtained within four weeks of employment.
- A minimum of one year of experience in adult physical rehabilitation is preferred.
