Job Overview

Alpena Coop Service is a leading agricultural cooperative seeking a highly skilled Accounting/Payroll Manager to oversee all aspects of our financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of the company's accounting processes, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, financial statements, and budgeting
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll for employees, including calculating wages, benefits, and deductions
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax preparers for annual audits and filings
  • Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in accounting and payroll regulations and best practices
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial analysis and support for decision-making
  • Supervise and mentor accounting and payroll staff, providing guidance and training as needed
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting and payroll management
  • Proficiency or knowledge of QuickBooks, Quicken, and Microsoft software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
