Job Overview:
The Instrumentation Engineer II plays a crucial role in producing instrumentation project outputs and collaborating with project instrumentation designers for both new and revised process instrumentation systems.
Key responsibilities include conducting project site assessments of existing instrumentation slated for replacement or redesign, performing documentation reviews, and annotating drawings or data sheets to reflect current instrumentation and wiring specifics.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze project specifications and scopes of work
Participate in client technical discussions and site evaluation meetings
Conduct instrument site assessments and evaluations
Create instrumentation documentation, including data sheets, loop diagrams, installation specifications, instrument inventories, DCS/PLC I/O listings, and P&IDs
Offer technical assistance for field operations, including outage and turnaround projects
Collaborate with the piping team on inline instrumentation piping designs, level configurations, flow measurement straight runs, and control valve setups.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 8+ years
Licensure:
E.I.T. certification preferred
Technical Expertise:
Familiarity with ISA, API, and ASME instrumentation standards
Proficient in SPI and vendor sizing software for instrumentation
Leadership Skills:
Experience in leading small teams and collaborating with various disciplines
Additional Skills:
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication abilities
Professional Development:
Enhance instrumentation project capabilities
Develop skills for generating instrumentation deliverables
Improve client interaction and site management skills
Each field assignment may have unique requirements. Before starting any field task, candidates must meet all client-specific site criteria.
If unable or unwilling to comply with assignment-specific requirements, continued employment may depend on the availability of other assignments that can be accommodated.
Potential Requirements:
Ability to move physically (on the ground and at heights).
Capability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Willingness to work at heights, climb ladders and stairs, and occasionally work from platforms/scaffolding/ladders with the necessary fall protection.
Ability to work in various weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold, and wind) while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
This may include, but is not limited to, hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, ear protection, masks/respirators, high-visibility safety vests, leather gloves, and steel-toed work boots.
Potential to work in confined spaces.Compliance with a client's random drug testing policy may be required prior to site entry.
Adherence to a client's facial hair safety policy may be necessary before entering their site.
