Otolaryngologist Role within the Department of Surgery

  • Deliver expert consultation and medical care for patients requiring surgical intervention in ENT.
  • Assess and manage patients with conditions necessitating surgical treatment for relief or resolution.
  • Conduct evaluations for both outpatient and inpatient populations to determine further medical needs.
  • Perform comprehensive medical histories, physical assessments, and execute both major and minor surgical interventions.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications and initiate diagnostic procedures including laboratory tests, imaging studies, and CT scans.

As a vital member of the Surgery Department, prioritize patient satisfaction while aligning with the medical center's objectives.

  • Engage respectfully with patients, their families, and all healthcare personnel.
  • Deliver accurate information in accordance with established protocols and manage conflicts in a constructive manner.

Emphasize the provision of surgical services tailored to Veterans at the VA Central California Health Care System.

  • Patients typically range from 18 to 70 years old.
  • Gain insights into the distinct requirements of this patient demographic.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the diverse needs of all patients, considering age, developmental stages, and cultural backgrounds.

This position qualifies for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which offers potential financial awards up to $200,000, with eligibility spanning one to five years based on assessment.
