Job Description

This role requires a highly skilled professional to coordinate and project manage the design of fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, strong communication abilities, and experience with AutoCAD or other specialized fire sprinkler design software.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing construction contract documents and coordinating with sub-contractors and General Contractor/owner to gather information for designing the project's sprinkler system
  • Determining construction feasibility and systems possibilities through analytical thinking and problem-solving
  • Creating detailed drawings using AutoCAD and developing stock lists for all materials required throughout the project
  • Performing battery load calculations, developing initial schedules for preliminary project work, and maintaining design historical records
  • Developing positive relationships with customers to ensure company expectations are met and coordinating with other departments within the office for proper handover of job information
  • Conducting long-range project planning and scheduling, monitoring and managing projects to comply with safety, quality, productivity, and profitability requirements
  • Directly managing field labor forces assigned to projects to ensure maximum productivity, tracking employee hours and crew mix rates for each project, and ensuring proper staffing is in place on each project
  • Identifying changes in projects that impact cost, schedule, or labor requirements and making sure change orders/change estimates are completed in a timely manner
  • Monitoring project billings for accuracy and maintaining a positive cash flow, continually monitoring progress of projects and reviewing reports to ensure compliance with schedule and budgetary guidelines
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven ability with AutoCAD or other specialized fire sprinkler design software
  • Supervisory experience is a plus, but not required
  • Three years' experience in commercial, industrial, and residential design is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to regularly travel overnight, with or without reasonable accommodation
