Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Lancaster General Health. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping patients achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.

Job Description

Job Summary: The Occupational Therapist will practice the art of occupational therapy in accordance with the physician's instructions and Code of Ethics of the profession. The therapist will work with patients in various age groups, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients' histories and extract relevant information to inform treatment plans.
  • Conduct objective measurements to assess patients' abilities and needs.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including intervention and adaptation strategies, in collaboration with the treatment team.
  • Supervise occupational therapists' assistants or aides in the performance of treatment procedures.
  • Coordinate treatment plans with patients, families, and the treatment team through active participation in meetings and departmental conferences.
  • Implement treatment plans and supervise patients' use of equipment, taking necessary precautions to ensure safe implementation.
  • Monitor and re-evaluate patients' responses to intervention and modify treatment plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of evaluation, treatment, assessment, and plan in patients' records.
  • Comply with established standards, policies, and procedures, including billing, reimbursement, scheduling, and emergency procedures.
  • Develop and implement home or community programming to maintain or enhance patients' performance in their environment.
  • Participate in discharge planning, including determination of appropriate home or community programming, home equipment, and patient/family education.
  • Terminate services per physician's orders or when goals have been achieved.
  • Maintain and monitor own work schedule and that of the team.
  • Review the quality and appropriateness of services delivered for effectiveness and efficiency using predetermined quality assurance criteria.
  • Participate in Occupational Therapy student programs under the supervision of the Center Coordinator of Clinical Education.
  • Attend and document participation in staff meetings and mandatory or voluntary in-service programs.
  • Participate on sectional and departmental shared-governance committees.
  • Develop and provide in-service education to paraprofessionals and the community.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic housekeeping, supply, and maintenance functions.
  • Assist in directing and transporting patients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy or related field.
  • PA licensure, issued by the State Board of Occupational Therapy.
  • CPR certification.
  • One (1) year of general occupational therapy experience preferred.
  • Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy or related field preferred.
