We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Biorepository and Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a key member of our Biopathology Center, you will play a critical role in the acquisition, processing, and storage of biospecimens for research and clinical purposes.
Responsibilities- Receive and accession various types of biospecimens, including fresh blood and bone marrow, frozen tissue, and paraffin materials.
- Visually inspect specimens for quality and data accuracy, and communicate with external sites to resolve discrepancies.
- Perform basic biospecimen processing and handling to prepare specimens for long-term storage or distribution.
- Enter data into an electronic specimen tracking system and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate projects with external clients, collecting documents and preparing biospecimens for shipment to clinical laboratories or research investigators.
- Assist with procedure and technical development, and participate in quality assurance and continuing education programs.
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or clinical laboratory science.
- Medical Technologist (MT)/Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification or equivalent.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work efficiently and independently.
- Ability to maintain a safe environment and follow established guidelines for disclosure of patient information.
