Job Summary

The Survey Technician at Topographic will execute complex land surveying assignments, reviewing maps and documents for technical accuracy and compliance with local, state, and federal property laws. This role involves research, data processing, and map creation using Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD software. Key responsibilities include preparing working sketches, processing field crew data, and producing detailed subdivision maps and ALTA surveys. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a thorough understanding of mathematics, and proficiency in computer-assisted surveying applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on easements, deeds, and other pertinent information to prepare working sketches for field crews.
  • Utilize Trimble Business Center to process field crew data and produce files for import into AutoCAD.
  • Create survey base drawings using field crew data, sketches, photos, and reference maps.
  • Produce detailed subdivision maps, ALTA surveys, and other survey-related maps using AutoCAD software.
  • Prepare legal descriptions and exhibits for right-of-way, easements, and acquisition parcels.
  • Perform QA/QC procedures on work prepared by themselves and others.

Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of mathematics used in field survey analysis.
  • Ability to apply methods and standards of technical report writing and computer-assisted surveying applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret various maps, title reports, and legal descriptions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software used to draft reports and letters.

Work Environment
