Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Shipping Operator to join our team at West Fraser, Inc. As a key member of our Shipping department, you will be responsible for the safe operation of a forklift in our sawmill, ensuring the efficient movement of materials and products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular equipment checks and preventive maintenance on forklifts to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Material Handling: Transfer lumber between various plant operations, adhering to safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Basic Care: Conduct inspections, perform minor adjustments, clean, and document equipment maintenance activities.
Requirements
  • Safety Record: Maintain an excellent safety record, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Attendance: Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality, with minimal absences.
  • Communication: Possess good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues and management.
  • Teamwork: Willingness to perform all job assignments in an effective and timely manner, with minimal supervision.
  • Certifications: Hold a valid forklift driver's certificate or heavy equipment loader certification.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in a hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environment.
  • Assessments: Successfully complete pre-employment background checks, drug screens, physical assessments, and forklift competency tests.
