Title: Educational Support Coordinator – Lincoln School

Classification: KISSA

Reports to: Principal/Administrator of Lincoln School

Employment Terms: 182-day position subject to all rules and regulations governing classified personnel.

Supervision: None

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Educational Support Coordinator operates under the general supervision of the Principal/Administrator, with direct oversight from the special education teacher. This role involves providing direct educational assistance alongside classroom instructors, focusing on the specific needs outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEP). Responsibilities will vary based on the age of the students and the nature and severity of their disabilities.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the educational and social growth of students under the guidance of classroom teachers.
  • Assist in executing Individualized Education Programs for students and track their progress.
  • Facilitate support for individual students in both classroom and extracurricular settings to ensure full participation.
  • Collaborate with related services personnel, including speech-language pathologists, school social workers, occupational therapists, and physical therapists.
  • Help classroom teachers maintain accurate student records.
  • Provide assistance to students with emotional or behavioral challenges, aiding in the development of appropriate social skills.
  • Support the management of challenging behaviors effectively.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, including feeding and toileting.
  • Address students' medical needs, including administering Diastat and performing CPR as necessary.
  • Supervise students in both classroom and community environments.
  • Collect and report data using the special education student management system.
  • Assist in creating instructional materials tailored for students.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must meet one of the following criteria: completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education, obtained an associate's degree or higher, or be a high school graduate.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree.
  • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain CPR and CPI training.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
  • Evidence of skills in behavior management.
  • Possess a patient, understanding, and warm demeanor towards students.
  • Ability to take responsibility for supervising students independently.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community while ensuring student confidentiality.
  • Must be capable of lifting 40-60 lbs.
  • Chauffeur license required (or willingness to obtain) with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a criminal background check as mandated by School Safety Legislation.
  • Willingness to collaborate as part of a professional team.
