Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Sales Assistant at the University of Southern Indiana's Historic New Harmony Visitor Center. As a Sales Assistant, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, operating cash registers, and maintaining the museum shop inventory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to visitors, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Operate cash registers, process customer purchases, and maintain accurate records of sales and inventory.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the museum shop inventory, including pricing merchandise, restocking shelves, and arranging displays.
  • Staff facility rentals and specialty events, ensuring a seamless experience for guests.
  • Assist with school and group tour check-in, providing orientation programs and information about New Harmony and the surrounding area.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with computers, word processing, and email software.
  • Ability to accurately handle sums of money, checks, and credit cards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • General understanding of New Harmony history.
  • One year of retail experience.
