Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at Flatiron Construction Corp. As a Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in the success of our projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedules and confirm that all materials, equipment, and resources are readily available for production to continue on schedule and within budget.
  • Review all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data throughout the duration of the project to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
  • Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying risk elements of production, materials, equipment, or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to accurately track project performance and document daily activities in Company-approved methods and technologies.
  • Update project schedules weekly for owner and management reporting and attend weekly owner meetings to present on project production status as needed.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by management.
  • Prepare and manage three-week work plans, notifying engineering and project management of any significant schedule changes and developing solutions to mitigate delays and costs.
  • Initiate and manage all Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed by the project.
  • Remit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported and manage invoicing with Company accounting teams regarding materials, equipment, and subcontractor needs.
  • Support the engineering team with quality assurance as needed, reviewing certificates and permits required to perform work and participating in all worksite tours with leadership or external parties.
  • Review required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all construction personnel and participate in all weekly safety meetings with field teams and project leadership, presenting field analysis as needed.
  • Assist the estimating team with project schedules, budgets, and cost parameters by providing technical input as needed.
  • Assist in the development of design drawings and provide technical input as needed.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews as needed.
  • Reconcile job close-out checklists with owner representatives and field crews at the end of the project.
  • Maintain knowledge of Company values and strategic plans.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • 5+ years of construction engineering experience required.
  • Experience in resource monitoring techniques (i.e., cost accounting, basic estimating) and construction technology, process systems, and/or structures preferred.
  • Specialized, technical knowledge of design-build or other alternative build techniques.
  • Able to set clear expectations for direct reports regarding role and responsibilities.
  • Able to delegate and assign work to engineering teams to progress project production forward.
  • Able to manage multiple engineering tasks and progress them towards a common goal.
  • Advanced knowledge of contract specifications and quality assurance practices.
  • Able to identify budget and project costs and recommend options to mitigate project delays.
  • Possess verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of design-build and other alternative build techniques.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting methods, quantity tracking methods, and cost coding.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and communicate effectively with others.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be fully vaccinated or willing to become fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by date of hire to be considered.
