Job Summary
The Shop Mechanic is a critical role at Wilks Brothers, responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our heavy industrial equipment and vehicles. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our equipment, as well as providing technical support to our operations team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment, including testing and diagnostics.
- Monitor, evaluate, and adjust processes or equipment to maximize quality and efficiency.
- Diagnose simple and complex mechanical problems.
- Assist other mechanics with performing repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Understand knowledge of oil field and engine equipment.
- Perform tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Complete service jobs as required in a timely manner.
- Effectively communicate with co-workers, and management.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Attend training classes as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
- Overtime will be required based on company demand.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years' experience with similar industrial equipment strongly preferred.
- 2-5 years prior field service experience preferred.
- Must be capable of performing complex repairs correctly and safely in a shop environment and in the field.
- Must own a basic set of hand tools.
- Must have a valid driver license or commercial driver license.
- Able to travel overnight between facilities as necessary.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in the English language.
Working Conditions
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Prolonged periods of sitting on a forklift or other warehouse equipment.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing protection, and hard hats when needed.
- Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to move and lift to 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
- Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
