Position Overview:

The Pastry Chef will be responsible for crafting a variety of baked goods, including artisan breads and exquisite desserts, within a commercial kitchen setting. This role involves developing innovative dessert recipes and managing ingredient inventory while ensuring cost-effectiveness for the establishment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately measure and combine ingredients to create bakery items such as breads and pastries, adhering to precise culinary standards.
  • Coordinate with management to ensure the daily production of baked goods meets demand and maintain production schedules.
  • Oversee the baking environment, ensuring quality presentation, monitoring oven temperatures, and evaluating products against established standards.
  • Visually present and merchandise all baked products attractively.
  • Receive, store, and prepare inventory for baking, ensuring consistency in product quality.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work area, ensuring proper sanitation practices are followed.
  • Exhibit hospitality and a respectful demeanor towards guests and team members.
  • Address any issues promptly and keep management informed of ongoing concerns.
  • Provide training and guidance to new bakers as needed.
  • Assist with prep and utility tasks as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in using commercial kitchen equipment including large-capacity mixers, convection ovens, and food processors.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, ingredient knowledge, and an artistic eye for presentation.
  • Compliance with local health and food safety regulations.
  • Uphold high standards of quality for all food prepared and served.
  • Ability to respond effectively during emergency situations.
Job Requirements:
  • Full-time availability, including weekends and evenings.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; fine dining experience preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs frequently and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
