Job Summary:

Altasciences is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to prepare high-quality tissue samples for histopathologic evaluation, perform routine hematoxylin and eosin staining, and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.

About the Role:

As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in our laboratory team, working closely with our skilled professionals to discover, develop, and manufacture new drug therapies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and document the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment, adhering to strict protocols and procedures.
  • Perform paraffin tissue processing, identifying required tissue sample orientation and performing paraffin embedding procedures.
  • Utilize microtomy skills to prepare routine (paraffin embedded) microscopic slides according to standard operating procedures and/or required by study protocols.
  • Perform routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, as well as cover slipping microscopic slides.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and/or operation failures, taking prompt action to minimize interruptions.
  • Analyze raw data collection and solve for deviation in standard operating procedures (SOP) and/or protocol requirements.
  • Dispose of hazardous chemicals, generate hazardous chemical lab packs, and data entry to laboratory hazardous chemical records.
  • Order warehouse supplies and data entry to laboratory inventory records may be assigned.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree (AA), specializing in science, preferred.
  • Work experience includes, but not limited to, at least 1+ years laboratory experience and/or training HT (ASCP) eligible within one year of employment.
  • Identification of tissue organs and/or tissue samples; microtomy skills and routine hematoxylin and eosin staining preferred.
  • Handles and disposes biological and/or chemical substances and wastes in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Wears appropriate PPE in accordance with policies and procedures.
